Harvest pear™ is a grafted pear tree that is annually productive, producing a sizeable European-style pear that ripens on the tree slightly later than Kieffer. The taste is similar to Kieffer as this pear goes very sweet as it ripens here in Pennsylvania in late October and starts dropping. Harvest Pear™ continues dropping into the middle of November, and as with most late-ripening pears, as the cold weather comes, those starches go to sugars, and the pear becomes very sweet. This attracts a lot of attention from all wildlife. Harvest Pear™ tree has excellent vigor. The tree is very productive and will benefit from some thinning of fruit to avoid limb breakage as the tree is overbearing. I have witnessed other pear trees meltdown with fireblight in the vicinity of Harvest Pear™, and yet this tree has remained clean. Harvest pear™ has resistance to fireblight and is suitable for plant hardiness zones 4b-7. The tree will reach a mature height of 25′.+

HARVEST PEAR™
The tree is very productive and will benefit from some fruit thinning to avoid limb breakage as the tree is overbearing. I have witnessed other pear trees meltdown with fireblight in the vicinity of Harvest Pear™, and yet this tree has remained clean. Harvest pear™ has resistance to fireblight and is suitable for plant hardiness zones 4b-7. The tree will reach a mature height of 25′.+
The Harvest Pear™ is made by using plant tissue from the original tree and attaching it to the new roots. This process essentially gives you an identical tree to the one you see in the picture and description.
TREE SIZE
2-3′ ( 3/8″ dia.) These trees will have a good root system. They will be whips around 3′ high with a trunk diameter of 3/8″.
3-5′ ( 1/2” dia.) These trees will have a good root system with some possible branching but will mainly be whips. They will range in height between 3′ to 5′ with a trunk diameter of around 1/2″.
4-6′ (+ 1/2” dia.) These trees have an extensive root system and can have multiple branches, but many will be solid whips. They will range in height between 4′ and 6′ with a trunk diameter of 1/2″ to 3/4″.
2-yr 4-6′ (+ 5/8” dia.) These two-year-old trees will have an extensive root system and can have multiple branches with a diameter of 5/8” and greater. They will be pruned back to a shipping height of 66”. We have opened free local pick-up to the surrounding states of Pennsylvania as this sized tree is 6′ and above because of being grafted onto a standard root.
STANDARD ROOTSTOCK
Harvest pear™ is grafted to a vigorous, standard-sized rootstock that will reach a mature height of 20′-30’that is adaptable to acidic soils, poor soil conditions, and fertility. Produces a well-anchored solid tree that performs well in heavy soils. As a result, it will be suitable for more marginal areas that were wooded and are now food plots, reclaimed land, shale mountain soil, dryer uplands, and ridges, as well as tolerating more moist soils. Obviously, with that said, this rootstock will perform exceptionally well when planted in appropriate ph and nutrient-rich soils! It is always recommended that you perform a soil test and make the correct amendments to your soil for optimal growth. We are only grafting onto the most vigorous standard rootstock. This rootstock is cold, hardy zones 4b – 8.
PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR HARVEST PEAR™
Plant at least two different pear varieties close to each other to ensure pollination. The varieties of grafted pears we have for sale will continue to blossom and overlap, giving you excellent pollination. The Danville Kieffer pear tree is an excellent pollinator for both Asian and European varieties of pears.
Plant all pear trees in moist, well-drained soil with a soil ph between 5.5 – 7.2 with adequate nutrient levels for optimal growth. The above soil conditions will provide the most growth and fruit production. Pears are one fruit tree that will tolerate acidic soils with poor fertility. A fruit tree requires at least 6 hours of sunlight for fruit production and growth. Space trees 20′ apart and use cages of at least 5′ to protect your trees. Doing this will ensure your deer eat your fruit in a few years, not your trees this year.
