Description
Pear seedling rootstock for sale (Pyrus Domestica x Pyrus betulifolia) is a standard full-size pear. The 1/4″ to 3/8″ seedling rootstock is more vigorous than that of OHXF 97 and is much better anchored. Winter hardy well into plant hardiness zone 4 at -25 to -30 degrees. This pear rootstock will reach a mature height of well above 20′ (as seen in pictures) and is compatible with most pear varieties, especially European cultivars.
They will grow in a wide range of soils with deep-penetrating “real roots”. This pear makes an excellent rootstock when growing pear trees for wildlife. In my experience, it’s typical for a pear on this rootstock to reach 20′ by age five and yet to grow 3′ annually in the years after. This creates an enormous pear tree reaching well above 30′ mature height, providing the most mast possible when feeding wildlife. When grafting onto the most vigorous one-year-old seedling, such as these in 3/8” diameter.
