The Seckel pear is a very sweet variety, also known as the sugar pear, for a good reason\. The tree produces fruit in clusters annually and falls free from the tree for me pretty much the entire month of September in central Pennsylvania\. It exhibits moderate resistance to fire blight and good resistance to most common pear diseases\. I use this pear to condition my deer, as its high sugar content has them cleaning all the pears up every day\.
